SANTA CRUZ, CA (May 18, 2010) --The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is ready for an exciting Tour of California Stage 3 Finish today, Tuesday, May 18. Riders are expected to race down Cliff Street to the Beach Street finish line in front of the Boardwalk between 3:15pm and 4:15pm.
Boardwalk Parking
The Boardwalk’s River Lot will be open for visitor parking ($11) at 7am. The River Lot is accessed via the Riverside Avenue Bridge (the normal route for visitors approaching the Boardwalk from Ocean Street). Valet bike parking is available near the Casino Arcade. Shuttle services from downtown Santa Cruz will drop visitors at nearby Depot Park. Roads around the Boardwalk and Wharf Area are scheduled to close at 1:30pm as the race approaches the area.
Neptune’s Kingdom and the Boardwalk Bowl open at 9am; the Casino Arcade opens at 10am; the Giant Dipper and other select rides will open from 11am – 5pm.
The Watsonville Taiko Drummer and Scotts Valley Tae Kwon Do Academy perform at 11:15am and 1:00pm on the Boardwalk’s Beach Bandstand. A Mountain Bike Stunt Show with Mike Steidley and Casey Holm starts at 12:15pm and 2:00pm on the Beach Bandstand. The Lifestyle Festival in the Boardwalk’s Beach Street parking lot starts at 11am.
