November-December 2009 Hello Big Kahuna Club! November: Boardwalk rides are open for Limited Operation from Noon to 5pm, November 27 through Sunday, November 29. December: Boardwalk rides are closed from December 1 – 25. Rides reopen December 26 – 31 from Noon to 5pm for Limited Operation. The Casino Arcade, Neptune's Kingdom, and Boardwalk Bowl are still open daily! View Operating Calendar Winter Specials Enjoy big savings during the winter season when a limited number of rides are open. You can expect the following to open during Limited Operations: Double Shot, Hurricane, Pirate Ship, Carousel and Bumper Cars; plus two kiddie rides (Starfish, Jet Copters, or Speedway.) Unlimited Rides Wristband Ride as often as you want on a Limited Operating Day. $16.95 plus tax. Attractions Plus Unlimited Rides Package Includes a ride wristband, PLUS your choice of any two attractions: Mini Golf, Laser Tag, Desperados, Fright Walk, bowling, or 12 arcade tokens. $24.95 plus tax Parking Park all day for just $5. 2010 SEASON PASSES Season Passes make great gifts! The Boardwalk's 2010 Season Pass comes with one All Day Unlimited Ride Wristband for a friend plus a bonus coupon book AND some very cool extras. Purchase Season Passes Check out the 2010 special events just for pass holders! More Info TOKEN MADNESS During the entire month of December, when you buy $20 in Boardwalk arcade tokens, get $20 in tokens FREE. Tokens may be used anytime during the year and make great stocking stuffers for arcade fans! Ask an attendant about Token Madness in the Casino Arcade, Neptune’s Kingdom, or Guest Services office.
		All of us at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk would like to wish you and your family a very happy Thanksgiving! Holiday lights and decorations are going up around Neptune's Kingdom as the Boardwalk gets ready for the return of the Holiday Lights Train on November 28. More Info The NEW Haunted Castle project is going very well and still on schedule! Everyone is looking forward to the grand opening in 2010. Check out an amazing time-lapse video of the recent work! The Giant Dipper is scheduled to reopen December 28 after its annual maintenance is completed. We all miss the clickity clack of the Giant Dipper! Vote for your favorite Boardwalk ride! The newly renovated Sea and Sand Inn has really good rates this time of year. Nestled above Cowell's Beach overlooking beautiful Monterey Bay, the intimate getaway has 22 ocean-view rooms and suites, some with fireplaces, in-room spas or private outdoor hot tubs. (A TV celebrity stayed here in October and loved it!) More Info Looking for things to do in Santa Cruz? Don't miss the incredible monarch butterflies at Natural Bridges State Park or the unique shops and cafes on Pacific Avenue. (Limit one free game per person per day.) All canned food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County. Holiday Lights Train November 28 & December 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 Hop on board the beautiful Holiday Lights Train for some old fashioned family fun! The train leaves from decked-out Neptune's Kingdom and travels through the streets of Santa Cruz on a one-hour round-trip journey with carols, Santa, and hot-spiced cider. Did you know?

In 1903, a colorful "tent city" was built (in the area now used as the Boardwalk's main parking lot) to create affordable places for Santa Cruz beach visitors to stay. The 220 tents were built with a wooden base and striped canvas top. They even had electricity! A sturdier "cottage city" replaced the tents in 1907.
