Did you know? In 1903, a colorful "tent city" was built (in the area now used as the Boardwalk's main parking lot) to create affordable places for Santa Cruz beach visitors to stay. The 220 tents were built with a wooden base and striped canvas top. They even had electricity! A sturdier "cottage city" replaced the tents in 1907. |
